Reflection

Wow...I'm finally done. This have been an interesting experience. I learned several new things and some of the things I already knew about. The lessons that I will continue to use are the RSS feeds, social bookmarking, social networking and mapping.

If the library does offer more online training programs I would definitely participate. However, I would love to see the instructions more simplified. I found several of them to be very confusing and thought they could be "dumbed down" a bit.

I also would like to see the subject of online security (firewalls, antivirus protection, spyware, etc.) and privacy addressed and included.

Gaming

I have played games online a bit, though not lately. My son got me hooked on nick.com games (Foster's home for Imaginary Friends). And now my co-worker got me hooked on yahoo games Cake Mania. The problem with playing games on the computer is that it is addicting and I lose track of time and then things don't get done. Oh but it is soooo much fun.

Google Earth

I love google earth. I have been using it for quite a while. I have used it for genealogical purposes (locating and marking cemetaries, old family homes, etc.). We have also used it for planning trips, and for just being snoopy. It's a great program.

avatars

I created my meez avatar a couple of years ago. They are fun for using on Myspace or message boards. Here is my avatar.

google docs and zoho

Since I am supposed to create a document using google docs I might as well just type up my blog entry. So far it seems pretty easy. I am sure that I could find a use for it. But once again, I worry about security. Not everyone practices good online security (ie...firewall, antivirus software, keeping av software updated, etc.) and that is something that I'm a bit paranoid about.

Okay so now I will try this in Zoho writer.  I was a bit confused as to which Zoho application I was supposed to be using.  I know that some people like lots of choices and options but as a begginer I find it a bit overwhelming.  Google docs is more simplified making it easier for me right now.

Search Engines

I have had the internet for over 10 years and I have used a lot of search engines, yahoo, msn, dogpile, metasearch, ask, google, etc. Out of all them I definitely prefer google. I especially love the opion for image search, which comes in real handy for helping with school projects.

Podcasts

I have listened to quite a few podcasts. It is not something I do on a regular basis. My neighbor loves to come over and use my computer to listen to the "Hear A Story" podcasts from the Sno-Isle website.
